Teaching — both Intensive English to the beginners as well as First Language English to the Higher Secondary students — is a central part of my development as an academic. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a wide variety of teaching experiences. Teaching students has been gratifying not only in my success in introducing students to a world of critical inquiry but also in the way in which addressing my students’ difficulties with analytical writing and thinking has revitalized and refined my own research and writing as part of my Ph.D. This has made me now more cognizant of my own teaching skills and the pedagogical tenets behind those skills.

In all of my teaching experience, I’ve tried to keep two things in mind: first, that although coverage of material is crucial, it’s more important to teach students skills than things, and secondly, that students learn skills best through an interactive teaching style that demands their participation and challenges their abilities.

I am a flexible and organised educational professional with more than 11 years of teaching experience in teaching Cambridge as well as the IB curriculum. I have an unparalleled ability to explain complicated literary concepts in an easily understandable manner.  I employ unique teaching strategies to effectively engage all students and foster a fun and fascinating learning environment. I provide individualised and extracurricular support for students who are struggling with learning concepts and literary topics.  I am fluent in written and verbal English, Hindi, Bengali, and semi-fluent in verbal Malayalam and Tamil.
